2019/03/10 Recruitment is now open!
We are currently looking for motivated and enthusiastic students to join our Equity Research team in March/April 2019!
Founded in 2005, HCM is a student-run asset manager at the Gothenburg School of Business, Economics and Law. Our mission is to provide cost-efficient financial services for the Student Union and its subsidiary companies. With 14 MSEK AUM, we are the largest student-run capital management firm in the Nordics, if not the world. Study Advantage lists HCM as one of “the 7 Best Student Business Club in the World” among business clubs from LSE, Wharton and Berkeley. We give students with interest in finance an opportunity to develop their analytical skillset and meet others with similar goals. Our alumni can be found on some of the world’s largest firms within corporate finance, equity research and asset management.
The position as Equity Research Analyst is a part-time, unpaid job where you will be in charge of analyzing primarily Nordic Equities for our portfolio. On our weekly meetings (Wednesdays 5-8 PM) you will be part of our investment commitee, discussing our holdings and the financial markets. As an Analyst you are also part of the decision-making for our investments and portfolio allocation. You are expected to present quarterly updates for your assigned companies, as well as pitch new investment ideas to the group on a regular basis. The working hours are flexible, where your interest in the financial markets and will to improve as an analyst determine how much time and effort you put in. This requires you to be a highly motivated individual with the ability to take your own initiatives. You will always have the support of other analysts and we also do research work in groups. Benefits of the position include an annual trip to Stockholm, visiting top-tier banks and fund managers, practical experience of asset management and equity research, a broad network of other students and alumni and a stepping stone to your career in finance.
As a person you should have an analytical mindset and show great interest in business valuation and investing. Preferably, you’ve already got your own portfolio and follow the stock market closely. Prior experience is an advantage but not a requirement. Valuable skills include accounting and business valuation but ultimately your interest and motivation to work with finance is what we value highest.
